1. What is Elastin?

Elastin is made of proteins that have the elasticity of natural rubber and is excellent at maintaining skin flexibility and preventing wrinkles.

2. What does Elastin do in our body?

Elastin is an important substance for maintaining skin elasticity and preventing skin wrinkles. It does this by acting directly on the elastin skin layer to help improve flexibility and promote the synthesis of elastin itself within the skin. Elastin is a protein that exhibits the properties of rubber, allowing it to add flexibility and elasticity to the issue.

 3. What happens to skin that is deficient in Elastin?

The skin's ability to synthesize elastin begins to fall around the time we turn 20. When we reach our 40s, this ability is barely half what it was just twenty years before, which quickly leads to aging of the skin. That's because without elastin, the skin is unable to support the substructure of collagen. As the skin loses its elasticity, the flesh starts to look like a stretched plastic bag, and wrinkles start to form. With this reduction in elastin, skin again takes place.  4. What is the relationship between elastin and collagen?

Elastin provides the underlying structure to interconnect the collagen, allowing the skin components to support each other. Also, because the corium contains less of these substances, the corium thins and the layer of dead cells becomes relatively thicker, leading to deterioration of skin condition.
